Ever since a British entrepreneur named Maximillion Cooper started the Gumball 3000 back in 1999, the event, alongside its Entertainment Group, flourished. Started with Cooper inviting his influential friends to join him on a driving adventure across Europe, driving the world’s most prestigious cars, hosting glamorous parties and showing the lavish lifestyle, Gumball blossomed into one of the most impressive automotive and lifestyle events in the world. As Gumball 3000 immediately gained notoriety, gracing the pages of GQ, Esquire and Vanity Fair, it quickly became one of the “must do events” for the world’s elite.
Over the years, celebrity attendees include David Hasselhoff, Snoop Dogg, EVE, Travis Barker, Xzibit, Adrien Brody, Tyson Beckford, David Guetta, deadmau5, Michael Madsen, Daryl Hannah, Steve Aoki, Tony Hawk and Dennis Rodman amongst others; along with Royalty and business figureheads including the founders of Facebook and Pay Pal. Some of our customers – like Jon Olsson, for example – were the main characters in some of the recent rallies. But, until this year’s event, we never took part in this amazing event directly.
After years of epic parties, amazing cars and abundant controversy, the event graced into its 30th Anniversary year in 2018. To celebrate this achievement, the organizers wanted to do something EPIC. This year’s rally tours the globe (literally!), taking the ralliers from London to Tokyo. The event kicked off last Sunday, and the ADV.1 team – featuring a highly-tuned BMW i8 – will join in on the festivities on the rally’s Japanese leg. Being the final destination on the 20th Anniversary Gumball 3000 Rally, Tokyo will play home to Gumballer’s for the weekend where there will be parties, dinners and public events throughout.
The ADV.1 Wheels team will participate in the Japanese leg of the rally. The vehicle of choice is a specially wrapped BMW i8, featuring a set of ADV510 Track Spec Advanced Series wheels. We plan on publishing daily updates from the Japanese leg of the Gumball Rally, so stay tuned for more each day.
