The McLaren 720S embodies the British carmaker’s relentless quest to push the limits of what’s possible. As a result, the 720S is lighter, stronger, faster, and more agile than any McLaren car ever before. And the car in question goes a bit more. It’s a supercar that takes no shortcuts, a one that redefines what a modern high-performance machine represents. Simply put, owning this amazing machine will require you to prepare to push the limits of what you thought possible in a supercar.
The beating heart of the 720S is a new and fearsomely powerful M840T engine with 720 horsepower and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque. Thanks to Twin Electrically-Actuated Twin Scroll Turbochargers, the 4.0 V8 engine can achieve some impressive performance numbers. For example, the McLaren 720S will sprint from 0-62mph (0-100km/h) in just 2.9 seconds and go from 0-124mph (0-200km/h) in just 7.8 seconds – faster than some high-performance hot hatches take for the 0-62mph run. And that’s spectacular any day of the week for us.
To make matters even more interesting, the 720S will brake from 62-0mph (100-0km/h) in just 30 meters. The same will be achieved in just 118m from 124-0mph (200-0km/h). To put matters into perspective, that’s less distance covered than the NBA basketball field is long, back-to-back. That’s what taking a break is all about.
The contours of the 720S are distinctly McLaren, yet the details are boldly different. Our designers took inspiration from the Great White Shark, a beautifully sleek yet brutally efficient hunting machine. The resulting design for the 720S is exquisite form following ingenious function. The smooth flow of the exterior lines manipulates onrushing air to reduce drag and cool the engine. Slim pillars on the teardrop-shaped cabin allow for the extraordinary glass canopy that floods the interior with daylight and offers unrivalled visibility.
While the performance aspect is straight crazy, it’s also safe to say that the McLaren 720S is one of the most beautiful supercars out there today. And if you can call the entire model range just that, for the Azores Orange McLaren 720S, you can safely say that with a car that comes with this paint finish, that is simply taken to a whole new height.
