While the term is often overused, the blacked out BMW M6 Gran Coupe really does look like Darth Vader himself drives it. Well, him or that dude handling all the sinners in that dark, fiery place called hell. But, whichever way you go around it, this vehicle ticks all the boxes in the visual department. It all started from one of the most beautiful contemporary BMW designs ever to be revealed. The Gran Coupe is that sleek four-door coupe that affords the daily driving usability inside a striking looking exterior package. Match that will impressive performance and you’ve got yourself a perfect foundation for an aftermarket build.
This particular high-performance vehicle from the Bavarian car maker comes with one of the best engines the company currently offers. The 4.4 liter BMW TwinPower Turbo V8 engine in the BMW M6 delivers 560 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. By utilizing its Launch Control feature – letting your engine achieve maximum acceleration from a standing start – you can brandish every lb-ft right off the line, accelerating from 0 to 62mph (0-100km/h) in 4.3 seconds. With an electronically limited top speed of 155mph (250km/h), it can keep up on both the street and the track with most of the today’s sports cars.
Unfortunately, for the F06 BMW M6 Gran Coupe, father time caught up in recent years. With BMW already working on its successor, the vehicle clearly needed a subtle modern refresh to make it relevant once again. For Jim Whelan, the owner of this beautiful thing, the modding direction was clear: clean it up, black it out and throw some high-performance forged concave shoes on his ride. The end result is a striking looking beast.
The M6 Gran Coupe seen here comes with a set of our ADV5.2 Track Spec CS wheels. The owner opted in for wheels sized 21×10 in the front and 21×11 in the rear. With a Matte Black finish, the wheels keep the blacked out theme perfectly. Naturally, with the Competition Spec wheels, you receive a wheel that’s engineered to be light, strong and provide utmost perfect fitment for the desired application. In turn, your vehicle looks good, but it also performs near or better than the stock wheel setup – with larger wheel diameters.
