It’s been a while since the last Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG took off the production line. However, this is still one of the most iconic & best-looking sports cars ever to be made. The SLS AMG is a front mid-engine, two-seater, limited production high-performance machine developed with the assistance of famed racing driver and Formula 1 driver David Coulthard. As a result, the SLS AMG delivers impressive driving dynamics and plenty of power, allowing this beauty to be driven hard both on and off the racetrack. However, that’s not the most appealing aspect of this vehicle by far.
Envisioned as a modern-day interpretation of the 300SL Gullwing by Mark Fetherston, the design of the modern-day SLS AMG features the iconic gullwing doors and modern takes on a classic vehicle design. In turn, this creates a unique blend of modern and classically designed interior and exterior of this vehicle.
The SLS AMG is powered by a 6.2 liter V8 naturally-aspirated AMG engine, delivering a whopping 563 horsepower and 479lb-ft (650Nm) of torque. The engine is mated to an AMG Speedshift DCT 7-Speed dual-clutch semi-automatic gearbox, connected to the engine through a lightweight carbon fiber driveshaft in a transaxle arrangement. In turn, this setup allows the vehicle to sprint from 0-62mph (0-100km/h) in just 3.8 seconds and to achieve a top speed of 196mph (315km/h). Furthermore, if you like to run the quarter-mile, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG will do that run in just 11.7 seconds with an exit speed of 125mph (201km/h). Not bad for a road-legal luxury coupe that looks ready for the red carpet from every angle you go.
However, the stock look was too bland for the owner of this Iridium Silver Metallic Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. Hence, the owner took over to R1 Motorsport for some aftermarket two-piece forged upgrade that takes this gorgeous thing to a whole new level altogether. For this build, we’ve machined a set of ADV10 M.V2 CS Series wheels, giving the SLS AMG a great combination of looks, lightness, and concavity at the same time.
This build features wheels sized 20×9.5 in the front and 21×12 in the rear. Furthermore, the wheels feature a Brushed Gloss Liquid Smoke finish and a Hidden Titanium Hardware Option. In turn, the end result is one of the classiest looking SLS AMG builds out there, featuring a deep concave rear that looks phenomenal on this high-performance luxury machine from the German carmaker. Naturally, flush fitment is part of the game as well.
